With so many models and variants around choosing a Dyson can be a confusing business so we've put together this quick reference guide to help work out which Dyson is right for you:

DC47	Nov 2012	Ball cylinder. Slightly upgraded version of the DC38 with 2 tier cyclone and slightly increased suction power.
DC44	Aug 2012	Handheld cleaner with long reach wand. Update to the DC35.
DC41	Aug 2012	Full size and power upright ball cleaner.
DC40	Jan 2012	Medium sized upright ball cleaner.
DC39	Jan 2012	The big brother of the DC38. Slightly bigger and heavier but with significantly more suction power, longer hose and cable and a much bigger bin.
DC38	Jan 2012	Dyson's first ball cylinder. A smaller and lighter but less powerful version of the DC39.
DC35	Jan 2011	Dyson's first handheld cleaner with long-reach wand. Otherwise similar to the DC34.
DC34	Jul 2011	Handheld cleaner.
DC33	Juy 2010	Dyson's most recent traditional upright cleaner (without ball).
DC32	Jan 2010	Cylinder cleaner. Almost identical to the DC23T2 but with a bin full indicator.
DC27	May 2009	Full size and power standard wheeled upright. This is effectively the successor to the DC14.
DC26	Jan 2010	Dyson's mini cylinder machine. Their smallest and lightest vacumm cleaner to date.
DC25	Mar 2008	Full size and power upright machine with ball.
DC24	Mar 2008	Dyson's lightweight upright machine with ball. At 5.4kg it's around 35% lighter than a DC14.
DC19DB	Jan 2012	Quietened version of the DC19.
DC19T2	Sep 2009	Dyson's cheapest cylinder model. The same as the DC19 but with an updated non-telescopic wand.
DC19	Mar 2007	Dyson's previous entry level cylinder model. Currently being replaced by the DC19T2 and no longer widely available.

DC31		Similar to the DC30 but with dual power mode. Now superseded by the DC34.
DC30		Dyson's second generation handheld cleaner. Superseded by the DC34.
DC23T2		The same as the DC23 but with an updated non-telescopic wand.
DC23		A full size and powered cylinder machine with a wrapable hose and telescopic wand.
DC22		A smaller and lighter version of the DC23 cylinder cleaner with a wrapable hose and telescopic wand.
DC16		Dyson's first handheld vacuum cleaner. Superseded by the DC30 and DC31 which have extended battery life.
DC14		Upright vacuum cleaner model. Note that on the Origin variant the brushbar can't be turned off so it's not ideal for homes with hard floors due to possible scratching.

Variants
Multi Floor: Most (but not all) Multi Floors iinclude HEPA filtration for allergy sufferers
Stubborn: As multi Floor but with stubborn brush and spot cleaner (DC33 only)
Drawing: Limited edition DC24/DC25 Multi Floor in white.
Animal: As Multifloor but also comes with ""Animal"" air-powered brushbar tool for pet hairs (also useful for stairs and car footwells).

I have decided to purchase a new vacuum cleaner and after several hours of online research have decided on a make and model of my new vacuum cleaner. I have decided to purchase a Dyson. Seems to have everything I am looking for, quality and power. I have been checking out several sites in search of a good price and found a site called max-vacuum.com. The price is good but when spending this much for a vacuum cleaner I am also interested in the company's reputation. Has anyone dealt with this company/site? One of the things I hate about purchasing things online is the possibility of returning it if it is not up to snuff. So I am interested in any dealing with this company and its' return department or policy. Was their customer service good or were they rude? Did they provide timely responses to inquiries? Any help that can be given is really appreciated.

i am looking to buying a new dyson hoover but what is the best one. We have a dog that is always shedding its fur so i would like to get a good hoover that is going to last. I have had 2 hoovers ( 1 x Tescos and 1 x Vax ) in the last 3 years. also a hoover that comes with the new dog grooming tool
can anyone please advise.

Hi.

If you're not after a ball machine I would go for the DC33. At £175 it's the cheapest full-sized Dyson out there at the moment. If you fancy a balled machine I would go for the DC25 over the DC24 as you might need the extra cleaning power for the dog hair. It's £220 though and the DC33 is a better buy unless you love the ball idea. To get an idea of prices,

As far as I'm aware Dyson don't sell the groom tool bundled with any of their machines at the moment, although I wouldn't be surprised if they do in the future. Remember that the "Animal" models are actually just the same as the others as far as cleaning power goes, though you get the animal turbo tool which can be handy for hairs in places you can't reach with the full machine.

Of coarse, it's just my opinion and I would always recommend popping down to your local store to see them before making a decision. Internet prices are hard to beat though - check out the price comparer (link at the top left of the page) for a full list of the best prices at the moment.

Thanks, I've been comparing different models for a while now. After my last vacuum choked on all the pet hair, I've been very careful about selecting a new one. My border collie sheds like a demon, so I need something that does a good job. The Dyson DC25 is at the top of my list, any comments on that one in particular?
