I purchased my dyson 6 years ago. Turned it on today and it blew up smoke coming out of it. I had a dyson for over 10 years when i lived in the uk never had a problem.
I am a pensioner and cannot afford another one. Would it be worth repairing this one?

Re: Dyson dc01
Most probably you need a new motor. They cost less than £20. It's a very old machine now the DC01 but if it is otherwise ok and you'd be comfortable changing the motor then that's what I'll do. Motor replacement should take an hour or 2 but you will need to take the machine almost completely to pieces. There are plenty of guides on the web. Good luck!
