Hi, hoping someone can help me sort this out. I've got a DC07 all floors. The wand sucks fine, but the base only sucks intermittently. When it doesn't suck, it doesn't seem to do anything, but when it does suck it works fantastically & practically picks up the carpet - it's an either/or situation, most of the time it doesn't pick anything up, but then suddenly you'll move the handle back & it'll suck great. However I can't work out what the problem is - I've checked all the tubes for blockages or holes, and all seem fine. If I take the bottom off, and feel at the end of the small flexible hose that goes down to the brushes, the suction there is fine. Yet once the bottom is back on, the 'suck' at the bristles feels almost non-existent. But I can't feel that there is suction anywhere else (e.g. if there was a hole somewhere where the suction was being lost).
Any suggestions?

Hi. It's hard to feel the suction at the bristles even when it's working properly.
Try removing that small flexible hose, rotating it through 180 degrees and putting it back on again. That hose helps push the cleanerhead onto the carpet and can relax over time.
Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the suggestion - I hadn't considered that. Does the hose just pull off?

Pull at the top end, twist at the bottom, as demonstrated here:

That seems to have made a difference thanks - I also discovered the post-motor filter, which the dyson support flow-charts don't mention. I've changed that too & it seems to be a lot better!
