dyson animal cordless goes on and off

I called Dyson once about this and when they were done talking to me my machine worked again. My problem is sometimes my cordless works and sometimes it goes on and off. I have checked for blockage every time and even cleaned the filter. I know the machine is good because if I pull the trigger with the filter off it works. Any thoughts on why this happens?
