Dyson model: DC39 Animal Canister

I have a DC39 Animal canister. Is there anyway to adjust the suction or the floor plate of the unit? At this point the vacuum is almost useless to me because there is too much suction on bare floors making it almost impossible to push. Also it has scratched floors because of this. Any suggestions, please.

Best bet might be to drill a hole in it somewhere to vent the suction. That's effectively what Dyson have done with the tools.

Maybe you can use wider hose? I am pretty sure there is solution for this, go to the electronics shop and ask. Two of my rooms are 100% hardwood floors but I got them covered in carpets to protect it.
