I got mine from spares-2-go off ebay - just search for "genuine dyson dc08 motor". espares and buyspares do them too, amongst others. note that the motors are not actually made by Dyson but these should be the from the same manufacturer Dyson use (OEM) - YDK are one,for example.

OK, it was worth a go. My ebay motor lasted only 6 months so it might be worth considering a genuine one.

Overall I think they're great. I bought my first in 2000 and 16 years later I'm on my second (a DC14). I've replaced the motor but it works as good as new. I think your brushes are worn as I think the brass bits sit proud before they wear down. Either way you've taken the time and effort to strip it down to the motor so I would replace the motor.
