Greetings all--

Brush bar failed... as I'm sure a lot have in the past.
The way it failed was not immediate. It would kick on and off while moving the vacuum handle up and down which made me think it wasn't something that failed but something that was failing... then finally failed.
I've been working my way down from the switch to figure out what the issue is as well as looking up what the possible culprit is.

I definitely need a new switch cause it doesn't "click" on and off.
In my searching online, I found a few instances where the brush bar motor loom from the PCB would pinch and fail.
Sure 'knuff, the wire was severed.
Pretty sure the switch failed AFTER the wire snapped from me pushing it relentlessly trying to get the brush bad back on.

It seems like the issue at the handle was a failing switch and a severed wire at the bottom.
To test this theory, I jumped the wires at the switch and temporarily connected the loom wires and powered up.
I was sure the brush bar would kick on and the fix would cost me $20.
Obvi it did not kick on cause I'm here...

Question:
Was jumping all the wires never going to get the brush bar to kick on?
Is there something else in the chain that could/would fail with the loom and switch?
How do I test the motor directly? (I don't want to put direct power to the motor cause I'm not sure if there's some kind of AC/DC conversion that happens.)
How do I test the PCB?
Anything else?!?

I definitely tried to search all of this on the forum but the search function is either not working or I'm an idiot and don't know how to use it (I'm sure it's the Indian and not the arrow)

I appreciate any and all help!!

Cheers.

Loom and switch replaced.
Brush bar is working fine now.
For whatever reason, jumping the wires at the switch and the split loom wires didn't engage the brush bar.
When I replaced the switch and loom, everything worked fine.

Thanks for your help.
