Some news from just before the forum started, but James Dyson was recently appointed as the Technology Tsar for the conservatives:

I for one think that this is a good move. Whatever you think of James Dyson he's always outspoken and passionate about UK engineering. He may have moved production to Malaysia but I'm quite sure he would have kept it in the UK if at all possible. The UK is desperately short of engineering graduates so I really hope his appointment helps to raise the profile of engineering and encourage more into the profession.
